Decided last night to head to Great Basin National Park. The weather has been fine in the day time but the nights are in the low 30 high 20s. It looks like it will be warmer.
As I headed back from the hills I found the road I was looking for. ” I THINK” it would of been okay to take and it would of taken me all day to go 30-40 miles. Decided discretion was in order. It was a 2 or 3 road for what I could see but a lot can happen in 40 miles. I’m learning to not go with my ” it’ll be fine” thought process. That doesn’t mean I still don’t take these side roads, it means I’m getting older and wiser.
This area is primitive and lonely. Perfect! Got to Great Basin and only one campground open and snow covered. So much for that idea. Actually it wasn’t bad. I had a nice hike up the creek and because the road was snow covered and closed I came down the road. Attended a safety meeting regarding goose feathers.
The Rig. A lot different than the last November. Better mileage so I don’t need to be so aware of fuel ( ya, right ). Diesel is more expensive so I think it will be a wash. Been averaging 12 mpg. Two things really stand out. POWER and Bose sound system. Plenty of power!! The newer truck with a better sound system and my aids in is the cat’s meow. Jake I have been listen to LOTR. Nice. XM radio is nice also. So is silence.
