Saturday 4/15
Early start. Beautiful drive off the canyon down into Tucson. No traffic but I have to cross town on surface streets. There is a zillion club bicycles with their colorful garb. Old, young multiple packs of 10-15. I had noticed coming down from the canyon a slug of big calved head down studs and one middle-aged slightly overweight women going up. Think Going to the Sun but longer!! So my thoughts are biking is big. Way over a hundred riders just crossing the city. At first i thought it was a race but nope just misc packs!
Interstate…..65 mph…..Interstate……65 mph……rest stop….Interstate….65 mph…that’s it. Looks like this gravel road goes over this hill and meets up down the road. Nice #3 gravel, go maybe 3-4 miles and come upon a small abandoned mining operation. This will work for tonight.
Talked to John Ricker and will see him tomorrow. Talked to Bob Gaughen and may catch up with him on Thursday. He’s in Palm Springs. Jake looking forward to golfing!
Don’t like the crowds, don’t like the roads.
There is something lurking in the back of my mind about tomorrow… I know it’s something…. I’ll think of it Allie.
