Wednesday 11/15

Up early this morning. I walked out to the beach last night during a break in the storm. Windy and dark would be how I would describe it. Maybe 5-6 cars / RV’s parked for the night. A car pulled in late, next to me. Woke me up. The younger guy turns his interior lights on and proceeds to drink a bottle of something. A big bottle. Takes awhile. Gets out, goes to the trunk and gets something but doesn’t shut the lid and heads back to his seat. I fall back asleep and in the morning when I wake up, look over. A fairly new honda dented in every fender and a crunched hood. Trunk still open and now, the seagulls have discovered it. For crying out loud. The gulls got so loud, it woke the dude up. He looked rough. Interesting start to the day.

I have retired my “no name” insulated coffee mug. Close to 30 years on that cup but it took a dive off the scaffolding during the shop construction and will never be the same. I’ve put into service a Mike&Brittany Hydroflask from their wedding. It’s working. Certainly keeps my coffee hotter longer. We’ll see if it stands the test of time.

Finally got goin’ about 8:30 and moseyed down HWY 101. LOTS of places to pull off and check out. One of my favorite camping spots, Cape Blanco, was only a hour down the road. It’s 6 miles to the campground and even tho it was early, I took the road……..I was tempted to stay the night but……it would be Thanksgiving 2018 if I stopped everywhere before I got to Allan&Bev’s. There is a lighthouse on the Cape and I drove out to it. WINDY, no I mean WINDY. Holy crap, Bill and the prairie schooner was rockin’ and rollin’. Stayed long enough to get a picture and headed back to 101.

Stopped here and there. It is very stormy. The ocean is big, white and wind blown all down the coast. Crossed over to California about 1:00. It doesn’t take long and you are in the redwoods. Left 101 and headed to Prairie Creek Redwood State Park. Nice slow drive thru some big redwoods. Drippy, moss covered camp sites. Pick #67 pay my $17.50 and lo and behold, showers!!! …..only takes quarters….I got a shit pile full, ‘cause this ain’t my first shower!

My plan is to get on HWY 1 and follow it down to Santa Rosa and maybe all the way to Morro Bay. We’ll see
