Friday 1/26

Early to bed, early to rise. Up at 5:30 raring to go…. to early to drive, still dark. So I cleaned up, had coffee, had a safety meeting, cleaned up some more ( including myself ) and sat around till it was light enough to drive. Off we go, to enter/exit this area it’s a drop of 3-4’ at a angle nothing drastic but you got to be aware to get off or on the road. Some creaking and groaning coming in but cake leaving. It’s about 20 minutes to the Interstate, so XM radio and the jazz station.

I have to cross a couple of sets of RR tracks, right at the highway, before I can get to the road. There was a train coming, as he sooooo let me know! I stopped a couple hundred yards from the crossing and walked around a couple of relics. The trains out here are long. As I’m walking back to Bill, god dammit! I forgot the two “perfect 2×8” I set under the front of bill last night. Never noticed the drop when i left this morning ‘cause I was thinking about getting up and out. Slow down Poppa! Turn around, backtrack, get the boards, turn around and head back towards to highway.

60 mph today I want to make it to Organ Pipe Cactus NM. Away we gooo, geez, next off ramp Painted Rocks PetroGlyph 11 miles…. I pull off and head up the canyon to Painted Rocks.

A beautiful day spent doing nothing! Walked a little, worked on the bike a little, cleaned a little, ate a lot. Salsa, I crave salsa. And of course anything that goes with salsa. So far, only cereal hasn’t made the list. Sitting outside at the picnic bench. This will work! Tomorrow Organ Pipe.
