Sunday 2/18
It showered for a little bit last night. Maybe 10 minutes. There is a fresh smell in the air. It will be interesting to see if things quiet down today. Been a lot of traffic (relatively speaking). Lots of younger people with mountain bikes. A few motorcycles. Now here is a traveler’s observation: Everywhere i have gone on the roads less traveled i have seen more Chevy Camaros, by far, racing around on the back roads…except Texas. In Texas they are Ford Mustangs! Made me laugh, haven’t seen a Camaro yet.
Well, I’m not sure exactly where the day went. Did some more casting, did some walking, did some reading, ran the generator. Had a nice dinner. And now it’s 8:30 and the day is about over. Oh, shaved. We’ll see. I finished The Crossing by McCarthy. Ah, i need something lighter with more…humor. Jack Reacher and Cormac McCarthy, lots of bad shit happening.
I noticed when i was at the ranger station at Panther Junction trying to get permitted, that they had a nice indoor sit down area. My plan is to get a backcountry permit, update ttrlt.n and download more books tomorrow while there. Then head out for three more days of primitive camping in BBNP. Then start drifting Austin way. There is a lot of good stuff in the Austin / San Antonio area to hike and see. State Capitol, must be some wicked history stuff. Busy day, good night.
