Saturday/Sunday/Monday 3/3-5
Overcast this morning. Yesterday afternoon was mix clouds but with lots of sun. Most likely high 60s today. Going to get my leak in the schooner fixed today and head ATA way to make some material lists. No hurry. A gentleman doesn’t start work before 10.
I’m on a Jack Reacher marathon. It’s been a long time since i read this much. Yesterday afternoon I read in my recliner on UJ back porch and enjoyed the heat of the sun. I have a hammock with me it’s just hasn’t been nice enough to set it up. UJ has a lot of trees. Nice afternoon. Tried to nap out there, just couldn’t get it done. Off to ATA. I’ll deal with the leak this afternoon. Side note: Seen lots of Ferguson trucks. This would be a good place to be a wholesaler. Lots going on. See lots of curb and gutter and utilities going in. Three – four cranes up in downtown Austin.
Did a little cleanup at ATA. Made a dump run. Looked at a couple of plumbing problems. Nothing major. I told one of the kids helping me go to the dump, the classic dad joke about the Lone Ranger and the dump… no understanding what so ever, blank stare. Did not know who the Lone Ranger was. Never saw it. For christ sakes, he lives in TEXAS, home of the Texas RANGERS! Kids. Oh well headed back to the schooner to deal with the leak. It’s so tight in the “bathroom” i have to pull the toilet out to deal with the leak. My fault Tyler. Didn’t tighten the nut on the toilet enough. Test everything before i put the toilet back. Looks good this time. Spent the rest of the afternoon reading.
Got some brother time in last night. He’s interested in the retirement process. I imagine his retirement would be similar to mine except busier. We are not ones to sit on the front porch rocking(…but that’s exactly what I’m doing right now, so what do i know?) I learned a hell of a lot about BIG time university and the process that kids and parents start 8-10 years before they are ready to attend. It’s not about scholarships as much as it’s about securing a admission. Tennis and academics together can make that happen. Golfing in Scotland was also discussed.
We’ll see.
Sunday has been a hang out day. UJ went to ATA and i fished (0) in local lake. It’s about as far as the big bridge. Cleaned up the tackle box, finished another Jack Reacher, ate popcorn, drank tea, had a great lunch and i have been sitting on the porch in the rocking chair rocking. A sweet day of nothing.
Tomorrow is plumbing day. I need to run a drain line for their ice machine so it quits flooding them. About 45’, a few 90, a union to connect to the machine. UJ also has a split 1” pvc 90 that needs to be cut out and add a drain so hopefully it doesn’t freeze and break again.
Overcast again Monday morning but should get to 80 this afternoon with thunderstorms. Decided to get going early in case of the storms. No coffee at ATA but i do have the green chair so there is plenty of pondering but it would be nice to have a cup of coffee. The drain line was cake. Fixed a extension cord, pressure washed the ATA sign. Tomorrow I’m going to wax it to see if i can make it shine. We’ll see. Didn’t get to the 1” 90, there is always tomorrow. Oh,oh i couldn’t resist the call of a quarter pounder. Lunch at McD and read the Austin Statesman or parts of it that were left around.
Got back to the schooner had a safety meeting and pondered UJ house sign and solar lights. He has this sweet live edge marble address stone. Yesterday i checked the pile of solar lights to see what worked…..i rearranged everything…. it’s probably best not to leave me by myself.
UJ’s doctor appointment has been moved from the 12th to April 30th. Sorta means i can leave whenever. And whenever will be when it’s a little nicer in MT or end of next week. I want to go by John Geiger’s in Colorado Springs, if at all possible, but i need 3-4 days to get there, maybe 5 so I’ll start watching that weather. I want to be home by the 29th. I’d like to go thru Sedona and Phoenix but Colorado Springs doesn’t fit in that drift. Depends on the weather. We’ll see.

Hello Dad,
Just wanted to reach out and say hello and thank you for the post card. That was really thoughtful of you and a little old fashioned getting a post card. I liked it! Had to have some professional forensic work done (Aubrey) to figure out who it was from as I did not recognize the signature but had the gut feeling it was from you.
From the looks of it you are on a great adventure and I am quite jealous. Keep up the good work and I will check in on you every once in awhile.
TTFN,
Skippy
