Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 3/6-8

Everyone loves a plumber. Made it to ATA by 8:30am as I’m not doing gentlemen’s work today. Going to deal with turning some toilet partitions around, try polishing the sign and fix the pvc pressure problem. Got way-laid by a friend of UJ about a shower valve problem. Ended up going and changing a Moen shower cartridge out. Bit of a PIA to get it out. Unfortunately he also has some pebbles/sand that is blocking the shower riser a bit. Tried blowing it out, nope. Oh well. Got back to ATA and worked on the sign….. not a complete waste of effort but pretty close. Oh well. I left the pvc job for last ‘cause i knew it would be messy. And it was. We’ll let it sit till tomorrow and I’ll have UJ turn it on. I’m hiking McKinney Rough Nature Park tomorrow.

McKinneyRough Nature Park in on the other side of Austin. Maybe 30-35 miles. To begin with it is 4 lane surface street then turns into a 6 lane freeway then a 10 for a ways, then starts going back down to a 4 lane surface streets again similar to 93 but think Reserve from the bridge to Brooks. 55mph. I studied the map last night so i have a general idea of how the road will merge. It’s actually Texas 71, a pretty busy thoroughfare. When i went thru the city there is a spot where all the roads meet with a bunch of overpasses and cloverleafs that were all backed up. I was going out of the city, thankfully most of the problems were inbound. Oh and there are some toll roads i need to dodge also. Pretty much in the right lane the whole way. Got to MRNP and paid my $2. Like California, Texas charges for everything, just not as steep. That would of been $10 in California. Hiking in Texas is easy on the steep. We would call it flat, they call it hilly. A nice park. The Colorado river (Texas) runs thru Austin and the river runs thru the park on the east side of Austin. Got 6-7 miles in, spent some time by the river pondering, checked out the zip lines and worked on my bird whistling. I have viewed the videos and i am a sorry whistler. But I’m going to keep practicing because i told Sonny i would ask around. On the way back i stopped at the golf course and hit a bucket and chipped and putted for a hour. Felt good. We’ll see. Golf Friday morning. A busy fun day today.

Thursday, i have no idea what i did. I’m writing this Saturday evening and for the life of me i can’t remember. I’m fairly sure i was at ATA doing this and that. UJ has two clay courts that have a underground watering system to keep the clay at the correct moisture content. He has had some trouble keeping it consistent. There are 12 float valves that have to be adjusted individually. Maybe i was pondering how to may it work. It will be tedious, not UJ strong point. Saturday’s project.
