Thursday 11/1
Rained all night. Not much traffic on Hwy 12. Nice campsite, no lights from the little traffic there was. Gained a hour crossing over to Idaho so no sense in a early start. Got going 8am Idaho time.
No squeal! Bill took right off without a peep. Moseyed down Hwy 12. Most CG are closed. Just the river access are open and they are free. Followed the south fork of the Clearwater to Grangeville then north on Hwy 95 to Lewiston.
I stopped at the Nez Perce National Historic Park in Lapwai, Idaho. Lots of nice artifacts. Walked around the site and picked up beer cans. I think i said before “Budweiser” is the beer of choice of litters. Nice park and museum.
Getting thru Lewiston and onto Hwy 129 south is a twisty, left, right, turn back and around, convoluted route. I had plugged a town south of Lewiston on Hwy 129 into my Garmin when i stopped for fuel (226 miles/ 17.86 gal ) and FOLLOWED it. There is no way i could of figured it out by myself. I was only tempted a couple of times to go the wrong way but didn’t take the bait.
My destination today is Field Springs State Park. I have been down Hwy 129 in the Porsche 10-15 years ago and told myself i need to stay here sometime. A good Porsche road is not necessarily a good Bill road but at the speed i go today, no problem.
$20.00 bloody dollars! AND the bathroom is under construction. Walked around and found the open bathroom but the walk…..nope. Also found a nice sledding hill but you would need to be really brave to go from the top!
Cube steak and salad for dinner and a quesadilla for dessert. Not bad. Tomorrow, Oregon and White River Falls SP
