Headed out early to Ubehebe Crater. It’s only 5 miles or so. Pretty desolate in the north end of the park. A couple of gravel roads that head up into the hills with the “Danger” yada,yada signs. Get to the crater and walk up the edge a 1/2 mile to “Little Ubehebe Crater” Steep, no switch back, just straight up. Took the green chair with me so i can sit comfortably when i get to the top. Parking lot empty when i got there but by the time i got all the way up and sat for a while a couple of buses showed up. Dixie University in St George Utah. Maybe a geology field trip. The crater is the result of a hugh explosion a couple of thousand years ago. There was a trail down but, nope, straight down, straight up.

Had a snack, took a selfie and decided to go up one of the gravel roads a couple of miles and have breakfast. Scrambled eggs w/ salsa and a toasted bagel. Headed back to Mesquite Flats CG, tried the self-pay, nope and did housekeeping and started another Bob Lee Swagger book. Pretty lazy day. Tomorrow…..maybe head to Joshua Tree or maybe stay another night at Furnace Creek CG. Kinda hinges on how crowded the CG is. We’ll see.
