Sunday 9/29

Happy Birthday Michael Allan and Allan Robert!!

Ho,hum didn’t get out of bed till 9am! Beautiful morning! Worked on the bike. Fixed a flat, adjusted the derailleur, general cleanup. Got my bike garb on including neon green vest and headed down stream on a nice gravel road. Nice. Went a couple of miles, all downhill, till I decided to see what a climb I had to get home. Nothing to terrible! The weather is nice!

I also did a little maintenance on my tenkara rod. No fishing license but I stretched the leader and line out on the little run by my site. Nothing. I figure another 4-5 days in Colorado, I should buy a 3-day license.

Took a walk this afternoon to some cabins on a old homestead. The log work is being renovated. The gate to walk up there was locked and I didn’t even think about climbing the gate (easy). I walked all the way around the property to a livestock gate. Was a little embarrassed when I got ready to leave and I could see the path back to the locked gate.

As I’m writing this a older couple has come in and setup, in a travel trailer down a site or two. Not more than 1/2 hour she’s prowling my campsite. Checking out the fire pit and giving the picnic table the once over. Wants to know when I’m leaving. I tell her tomorrow. Off she goes. Five minutes later she’s back do I “know what TIME  I’ll be leaving?” Goodness. Kind of a frumpy looking lady in sweat pants, heavy wool shirt, tennis shoes with her black socks up over the bottom of her sweats and a mesh baseball cap. Oh, and those big square sunglasses, tinted.

I have a bit of a plan now….take 4-5 days to cross Colorado back towards Utah. Mesa Verde, Chimney Rock. Hovenweep then Canyonlands NP, then Monument Valley, then….. Work my way south but maybe go to the Grand Canyon then backtrack to Sedona…..something like that. I better sleep on it, I hope she isn’t looking at her watch when I leave in the morning. Good night
