Hovenweep has to be in my top 5 of places to camp.  A short hike down the Holly Trail takes me down the canyon wall, scrambling over rocks and side sliding my way thru a split rock. The first 500 yards are as nice a start to a hike as you could ask for. Once you are down off the canyon wall the trail follows the washes. It’s 4 miles to Holly Ruins but I’m only going a mile and a half down the trail. Super watch keeps track of where I’m at and how far I’ve come. Got back had some lunch and putzed around the rest of the afternoon.

Looks like a big cold front /storm coming down from the north. I should be 100 miles sw of the tail of the storm. Predicting low 20s, high teens for Wednesday/ Thursday nights. We’ll ride it out here. No fire wood, I knew I should of loaded up. Highs during the days are predicted to be mid 50s. Good day for a hike I think.

Another gentle day. Tomorrow looks like the same. Maybe a bike ride. Certainly a hike. Good night.
