Thursday 10/10

Wheels rollin’ 7:15am. It’s a couple of hours to Farmington. Little over a hundred miles. Forty of that on 2-lane, frost heaved, poorly paved, road less traveled. Nice. Sunrise had some potential to begin with, but turned into glare before to long. Shiprock is a gigantic rock formation that you can see for miles and leads me to Farmington.

The CVS pharmacy is efficient and there is a Walmart right there. Got all my errands done and back towards Hovenweep by 11:30am. Got my walk in when I got back and closed my rings on apple watch. Really need to do a walk in the morning, a walk in the afternoon to close all the exercise rings on my watch. I have the local weather on the face right now and for the first time since I got it, the ECG is not on the face. I also use the timers all the time. I also have a little GPS exercise app that keeps track of where I’m at when hiking. Nice.

I have been doing a lot more BBQ. I have tried a couple different kinds of BBQ over the years but I got a Coleman “‘Fold and Go” propane unit and it’s really working great. Easy to clean, plenty of power and compact! Perfect size for one ( unless you’re Jake). More fires, too. To cold tonight for a fire.. Watch says low of 20 tonight. Brrrr. Coldest I slept in the schooner, 5F in Oregon. Heater is all setup and thermal window coverings are in place. Tomorrow maybe Holly Ruins, eight miles roundtrip but no mountains to climb. Good night.
