Saturday 10/12

Goodness gracious, I roll out of bed at 8:30am. Don’t feel any pain, hmmm, maybe my right knee. A bit. I guess I’m getting a bit fitter. That was a long walk yesterday. Another bike flat tire on the same wheel, the rear. Dammit, WITW. I want the bike ready to go. It still isn’t shifting right because the derailleur needs a cleaning. No pressure washer but I bought a high end spray bottle for water and a bottle of degreaser. I have a nylon brush in the bike pack. Cleaned it pretty good. Not Dennis Hunter quality, but good enough.

Pull the tube out and see that a patch by the valve stem had not stuck. The other five patches were fine….i have a new tube and a patched backup tube. Put the new tube in and throw the leaker away. Clean the rear derailleur and adjust my readjustment of a week ago. Pump the tires up and away I go, neon green safety vest and all. This area is a nice place. The roads are on slight gradients and a nice rpm can be maintained. Nothing out there but the wind. The ride back, mostly a coast. Nice. Six miles according to apple watch Which I will begin to call “Jonathon”.

Everything is put away to travel in the morning. Dishes done. Floors swept It’s not very far to the next area I want to stay. Canyonland National Park. A hour or two, so no sense leaving at seven am. Nine won’t be to late. Hiking/biking is what I’m after. I don’t want to get as far north as Moab. Do Canyonlands then filter my way south thru Monument Valley, maybe touch the rim of the Grand Canyon then Sedona, then …..  Let’s see where the next week gets me.

The cell service will most likely go down hill for the next week. We’ll see Good night.
