Thursday 10/31

Happy Halloween! I dressed up as a old curmudgeon all day!  Got going about 8:30am. Daylight savings time and Arizona don’t mix. I am now a hour behind Missoula. Cottonwood is the town I’m going thru first. Need to fuel(11.98) and do a grocery run. Then a short drive past Camp Verde to Clear Creek CG. Small, dusty but warm! $9 for the night.

Hung out, did some reading and took a walk. Perfect day. Going to head to Theodore Roosevelt Reservoir tomorrow. Depending on the weather could stay there a few days. Then I think Organ Pipe National Monument, way south against the Mexican border. Then from there, come up thru Yuma and the Salton Sea. Should put me in Cherry Valley the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I’m disappointed that the weather at the Grand Canyon was so cold. I could of stayed 3-4 days there. Free trams go everywhere. I didn’t do it justice. Oh well, next time.

I’m back in civilization. Cars, people all the time. I need to stay NE of Phoenix. But to far and I’ll be back at 7000′. Brrrrr. Looking at the maps there looks like plenty of camping between Phoenix and the Colorado Plateau. As long as the weather stays warm, I can find something to see and do.

It’s nice to have cell coverage and internet access. You forget how often you use your phone to check something till you don’t have coverage for a week. I’ve misplaced my favorite grey stocking cap. It isn’t like the schooner is huge. I have looked almost everywhere except where I put it. I know Harper, I know. “Everything has it’s place and everything goes in it’s place!” I’ll find it but in the meantime I bought another and, in fact, have it on right now. Also bought a pair of slippers because my feet have been cold wearing my crocs. Oh course I won’t need to wear this stuff if the weather stays warm. Good night.
