Sunday 9/26

Sunday 9/26

Continued to follow the Yellowstone River and checked out the FAS on my way to Roosevelt. I had only gone 20 or so miles when i pulled into Intake Fishing Access Site. Nice spot. Was getting ready to take a spot when i decided 20 miles were not enough today. So had a bowl of granola at the put-in and continued on my way.
North Dakota sure has benefited from the Balkan oil. US85 use to be a 2 lane backroad. Now four lanes with a median, Trailer Motels every 20-30 miles and lots of tanker trucks. The real benefit, i think, is cell coverage. Lots of cell towers out here.

Okay Roosevelt NP, lots of buffalo. Campground half full. No showers! Got old #49. The “Little Mo” flows thru the park and into the Missouri River. Lots of cottonwoods ans sumac. There is a eight mile scenic drive that i plan on taking Blaze on tomorrow morning. Lots of trails and exhibits.
Side Notes: Budwieser still seems to be the beer choice of litters, by far. I have filnally got a camping toaster that toasts well and quickly

  1. I’m glad you’re getting some good weather on your trip! I was born in Williston,ND, and visited once when I was 5. I’ve never seen any reason to go visit that particular area, but your travel pics make it seem worth the trip. At least for the stops and scenery along the way!

    • …i had already decided this will be my last ND/SD for awhile. There is a starkness and emptiness that i find satisfying at times. But there are lots pretty places as you show me from your hiking pics.
