Interesting day. Ventured into Fort Collins and found Barnes & Noble. Yuk! About 50 miles from Pawnee CG. The interstate is all tore up zigging and zagging bouncing poor Bill around. Let me out of here. Got ‘er done and headed west up US34 towards RMNP but i’m going a bit more north to Co14 that heads to Steamboat Springs. Didn’t fuel in Fort Collins…. mistake. No fuel for 80 miles which will strench Bill. Bill’s tank is 35 gal i had to pump twice ’cause it went over a $100 and put 31.03 gal. Way to close. All USFS CG going up 14 are closed. Yesterday was the “end of the season”. So i got that going for me as i worry about my fuel consumption going over 9500′ passes.
I fueled in Walden, Co. Headed south to pick up Co9 and head southwest towards Cortez Co. thru Telliride. I’m in a “Parking area” next to Blue Creek!Had bought a 5-day fishing license, yea! Didn’t start it till tomorrow,boo. Beautiful views! I want to find a spot to lay over for 3-4 days. We’ll see.
This whole traffic/ fuel/no place to camp spoiled what should of been a super day. Lesson learned. ALL the campgrounds can’t be closed? What about hunters? We’ll see.
