Friday-Saturday 11/11&12

Fishing this morning right at day break. Talking to Jessie, the groundskeeper at Colorado River Park, reassured me that I’m rigged right and have the right rubber worms, crayfish and flashy lures. Still a bit windy but I’m enthused….for about 45 minutes. Loaded the rods in Bill still rigged up and headed east. Did stop at Yuma Proving Grounds on the way out and checked out the tanks.

Nice drive for the majority of the day. Mostly 45-50 mph, old US80 is a back roads and the interstate frontage roads allow you to look around a bit. And if you need to use the bathroom, perfect. My destination today is the petroglyphs just west of Gila Bend. Ten miles or so off Interstate 8. Sixty camp sites, no water, no nothing but a quiet place to ride Blaze and explore the petroglyphs. Gila River is 7 miles away, a long walk but a short bike ride. $4 per night so I’m here for a couple. Three bar cell coverage. Seems to me that other than Lake Mead the cell coverage has been very good. Heading into less populated areas so it may just be a illusion.

Still chilly in the mornings. But the sun shines and i try to park the schooner where I’ll get morning sun in my living room window. It’s 45F outside at 9:10 but it’s 58 in the schooner and hot where the sun is hitting my shoulder.
