Wednesday 11/30

Wednesday thru Saturday. 11/30-12/4

Did i say they controlled the park? There is a locked gate to get out….or not get out. That thought had slipped my mind during my pre-planning meeting. Dammit! I remember from the initial check in that they told me the combination 64…27 maybe? Nope. Dammit. Being tidy i had trashed all the receipts and paperwork from checking in. Looked to see if Bill could get us around the gate, nope. Well, dammit. There goes the early start. Sit in Bill drinking tea wen I remember i took the window receipt off “the driver’s side windshield” get it out of the trash and bingo! 6487! Away we go!

Still cold in the mornings but headed down in elevation. Fueled up. $4.65 gallon. Lots of duallys  in Texas. Bill is feeling the love. Long drive, stopped at all the Historical Marker sites and hit Fort Leaton to pay for camping in Big Bend Ranch State Park. Poor Sara, couldn’t get the computer to show the correct discount and she couldn’t do it manually. This is after she told me i could only stay in one campground for the five days or drive back and have another reservation…….. The total wasn’t correct but by that point i was ready to go and another visitor was there. Thank you Sara, not your fault and I’m old if i end up in the wrong campground, my mistake. Geeez. Find a nice spot in Grassy Banks CG and setup for a few days of nothing.

Found a better campsite overlooking the Rio Grande and Mexico the next morning and proceeded to do nothing. Nice. Did a little sewing, thanks Bev!

Drove 15 miles to Latatis and Black Jack Crossing Golf Course and Resort. Nice people, real casual. Could golf, $275.00, didn’t golf but walked down and took some pictures of Robert E Lee statue that the folks in Dallas thought didn’t belong there. Beautiful.

Decided to leave Sunday and head for Amistad Dam just north of Del Rio, Texas. Been nice here. Warm but I’m tired of doing nothing.
