Tuesday 11/14
The sea was angry last night. The Tsunami warning says if you feel the ground rocking to head to higher ground and don’t wait for a warning. We rocked but, thank goodness, didn’t roll last night. It was pissin’ down rain when I got in last night so, no leveling, no chocks, just put ‘er in park and go to bed.
Rained HARD first thing this morning but the sun is out now! It is a nice camp site, right on the ocean. Took a stroll with the green stool down to the beach and had coffee. The sun is out but the wind is busy…just where does a wind gust end up? Do they peter out or does the gust continue forever?
Pulled out about 9 and have started south. HWY 101 in Oregon is a 55 mph road that follows the coast. Uncle D loaned me a Oregon book and I have already used it to advantage. Stopped here and there on my way down. Most of the morning on Cape Perpetua, north of Florence. While traveling a coast road I ran into 3-4 people with , I think Collies. Too big for Shellie, DRESSED like you wouldn’t dress your kids in, neck scarfs and body sweaters. They have FUR coats for Christ sakes! Everyone looked liked they were having fun, although the dogs, maybe not so much.
Took a video of the “Spouting Horn” as I understand,at high tide and stormy weather sounds like a whale, so they say. It was fun.
Oregon has a ton of beach access for day use. Nice stuff! I moseyed my way down the coast following the coast as close as I could. Stopped here and there and ended out on Cape Arago on Coos Bay.WINDY
Each adventure takes on it’s own timing. This one, because I need to be somewhere in a hurry, will feel a little different. As long as I’m within 300 miles of Allan & Bev’s by next Tuesday, life is good.
My little industrial accident has stopped me from golfing. I pulled the stitches yesterday but my index finger is still healing. Chambers Bay is 20 miles from here. But it’s more important that I can golf after Thanksgiving. So I’ll wait another week or two.
Headed back inland from the Cape and discovered that you can stay one night in a pullout. Found a decent spot right on the beach! $0.00!! Took a walk, sat on the green stool and watched the birds. Damn, I forgot to ask if they knew Sonny Hunter! Nice dinner, cooked inside with every bloody alarm in the schooner going off! Too windy for outside.
Decent cell coverage so I am able to update the blog. Tomorrow…… not sure. Don’t want to spend my time up in Oregon and have to mad dash it, but damn, Cape Blanco is just down the road and the Redwoods are coming up and I want to do HWY 1 south of Monterey and HWY 1 thru Santa Rosa is nice and then there is …… to be continued.
