Monday 10/18
Decided to stay here this morning and slept in. Shorts today. Walked up to Visitor center. El Morro (The Point) is a well used spot in the southwest. Lots of signatures on the cliff going back to early 1600s. The significent of the spot is a hugh, as they say in Texas, Tank. Water drains off the mesa and ends in a pool that holds 200,000 gal water. Just a large concave rock. But a dependable source of water in the desert. A publeo sits on top of the mesa. Over 800 rooms!
There is a second walk that goes up on top of the mesa and meanders for a couple of miles. I did that one after lunch. Nice quiet spot with a couple of nice walks. Tomorrow south towards Safford Az.
