All the days in between

I left Lake Mead and followed US95 down and took the Kelbaker cutoff. Nice backroad. There is no such thing as a deserted road in Southern California but this seems that way at times. Listened to some classical on XM and held it at 50 mph. Made it thru Twenty Nine Palms and took HWY62 into Cherry Valley.

Brother Allan is looking good. He’s down 40#.  We ate healthy while there. Got a shower in and did a load of laundry. Played the 1.6B Powerball with Allan& Bev but not to be. 

My motor for the schooner jack showed up a day late but i got it installed and took care of a few other little changes. The schooner is getting to be very functional. I have a problem with my battery isolator not cutting off cause of my lithium batteries. I have to pull the fuse to stop a 2 amp bleed back. I have a simple solution to cut power to isolator but need to install a DC-DC battery charger. I actually have a 40A DC-DC charger with me and if i get a few days somewhere I’ll get it installed. As it is, having 240AH of battery capacity gives me some time to get things sorted out.

Left out Monday morning early. Headed for Yuma Az. There is a large BLM LTVA area situated around the Colorado River and a few small dams. Long Term Visitors Area is RV’s camped on the bluffs and in the hollows everywhere. $180 a season, $40 for two weeks or $7.50 per night. 

I paid for 4 nights and have been golfing and sightseeing the Yuma area. And eating some good Mexican food! Today is Thursday and I’m heading east tomorrow. Going to spend a few days in the Tucson area.

Goodness, fuel. I filled in Nevada before entering California and was able to make it to Yuma with 4 gals to spare. California $6.99 #2 diesel. Yuma, $5.11. Averaging just over 14 MPG!! Bill’s tank is 35 gals. So i can go a ways if needed and it was needed!

So tomorrow is Friday 11/11. I will try to do better on blogging. I have done okay with taking pictures. As i head east into Arizona I expect to loss that big city feel and start to slow everything down. I’m smiling as i type that. Any slower, is that possible? We’ll see.
