Sunday 3/12

Sunday

Following 93S thru Arco, Twin Falls down into Nevada. Decided to wild camp. Cherry Creek, north of Ely looked promising and maybe this road would eventually end up near Ely. Eight miles on a decent paved road and you come to Cherry Creek. Look at the pictures there ain’t shit here. Why is it here? Beat up old houses and trailers with abandoned ( I assume) cars. The single road turns to #3 gravel(30mph) and starts climbing into the hills. Two kids standing by the side of the road watching me drive up. Of course I stop and ask if the road was good and where did it go. I don’t want to type the whole conversation but TL;DT they didn’t know shit.
But the road was #3 and the hills didn’t have snow, so off I go. 5-6 miles, over one low pass, and I find a nice valley. Park, get the unit leveled and decide on a walk. Walk down the road a mile or two looking for another road that I think will take me to Ely. Nothing. Walk back and decide to walk up the little spur I camped on and 50 yards up, a lot better campsite. So I moved. Nice sunset!
