Tuesday 1/23
I need to refill a couple of prescriptions today. There is a Savon Drug in Palm Springs. They are affiliate of Osco Drug. I hope this goes smoothly….maybe, will know tomorrow sure. I was only 4.3 miles from Tahquitz Golf, so I mosied over to hit a bucket of balls. Nope. Range closed 10-12 on Tuesday. It was 9:50. Putted briefly, swung a 6I and then headed to Joshua Tree NP. It’s about 45 minutes from Palm Springs.
Interstate, Interstate, Interstate man I’m tired of the Interstate. I finally get to the JTNP off ramp and …. what? It’s closed! Crap it’s 6 miles to the next off ramp…..what? IT’S closed too. It’s another 6-7 miles to the next one then a looong ways before another, fortunately it was open and I could finally cross over and head back.
Cruise into Cottonwood Campground about noon and pick old #28. Walked a 1/4 of a mile down to pay. It was like $4 in November. Nope, $10 w/ the senior discount. Crap I had $9. Just kinda the way the day was going.
Took a walk north out of the campground in the afternoon. Michael loaned me his eTrex handheld GPS. The scale is 1=100,000….the jury is still out. I’m thinking reading the instructions could help. We’ll see.
A nice walk, took some selfies, sat in the green chair and played with the GPS. Got back and sat in the sun and read. I’m reading “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson.Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail. He makes me laugh,so that’s good.
Had a great dinner, washed all the dishes, took the trash to the bin, cleaned up and am actually up to date writing. No service here, so it will be a day or two before I can update.
Golf tomorrow! I’m excited.

Looks like another great trip UH. I will be camping out in the desert at Johnson Valley, Ca for the King of Hammers jeep race. It cost $30 for the week but we only stay 5 days. Come on out if you are around. We will be there Monday 2-5 to Friday 2-9. Lots to see and do and you can take a few rides on my dual sport dirt bike. Take care, Allan. Text me at 909 921 4498 if you decide to go I will guide you to our campsite.
Watch out for all the jumping cholla, it’ll getcha! I read that book by Bill Bryson & really liked it too. It was so easy to read and very inspiring for getting out on an adventure.
I have a love/ respect relationship with cholla and all the cacti I avoid in the desert!
