Sunday 1/28

Sunday 1/28

Did I show everyone the new table mount? It has made the dinette into a nice lounging/work/eat/watch movie area. New foam mattress also. So far I’ve slept better than at home. I have three picture frames w/ 3 slots in each for pictures. I have one filled up and will fill another when I’m at Walgreens. Homey! I’m all about homey!

I’m starting to find a bit of a rhythm. Up early, start moving early and then quit about 1 or 2pm. That gives me a cushion if a campsite does work to still put in a couple of hours driving if I needed too. First thing this morning I went and emptied my tanks and added fresh water. Been keeping water at 1/3 = 10 gallons, bumped it up to 2/3. My poop tank is 13 gallons and my gray water is 16 gallons. The gauges on the waste tanks aren’t worth a shit, literally. I have used crushed ice in the poop tank and the sloshing of the ice cleans off the sensor for awhile but the gray tank no way to get it in. Plenty of capacity for just me.

Gave Bill a bath! He needed it! Two lane road leaving Organ Pipe for 40 miles. I was going by 7:45am but it wasn’t long before I had a couple of RV breathing down my tailpipe. Really nowhere to safely pull off and I get tired of having them behind me. Now this is a two lane narrow 65mph road. I was going, I’ll admit, a little slow…47 or so but kicked Bill to 55 when I saw them catching me. Nope, not fast enough for them. No where to safely pass. So I give Bill the gas and get a 1/2 mile or so in front and finally find a pullout that I can slow down and turn off on. Zoom, zoom. It pissed me off I didn’t just drive at 55 but let them influence my decision.

Lots of Border Patrol vehicles and check points. I really don’t interest them. Be that as it may, no safety meeting or safety in Bill till I clear this area.

Came thru Tucson about 11:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Cake. Back on the Interstate for 15 miles or so and off on AZ83. This should get me to Tombstone. There is a BLM area that looks like it has camping, Las Cienegas. Empire Ranch is a working cattle ranch that allows dispersal camping so I mosey up Oak Tree Canyon and find a place to settle for the night. Bought the Tucson Sunday paper and sat in the sun and read it. Tomorrow… who knows?

  1. Some of these pictures (sunset?) make it look like you’re on a safari in Africa or something. Interesting trees – we certainly don’t have those in MT!
