Was going to stay another day at Great Basin but decided in the morning to just go. Stay or go is not a matter of setup/breakdown ’cause it just doesn’t factor in. I can be wheels moving in 5 minutes. Hindsight, should have stayed another day.
It’s hard at the beginning to turn it down. No schedule means you can do anything and go anywhere. I sing that rock and roll song “do I stay or do I go”, this morning it was go.
Decided to turn east and head into Utah instead of going south. I guess I do have a long term schedule in that Mesquite in April. I have driven past Bryce Canyon NP in November so headed there. Bad idea, the top of the canyon is 8500 or so. LOTS of snow, one campground open with snow ploughed everywhere. The most people, tents,rv I have seen, tons! Nope, this ain’t workin’. So I spend the afternoon along with a half million other tourist driving from one panorama to another. Getting late and I still need to find a spot. Kodachrome Valley is reachable. Paved road all the way in. Utah State Park $17.00, hot showers, flush toilets! Most I’ve paid. But HOT shower!
I try to get out early ( lol ) and quit early. A lot more people and campers than November. If you are looking for a spot by 1 or 2 it hasn’t been a problem. But I see these Rigs doing the campsite funeral march at 4-5 even 6. I am constantly looking for a campsite preferably a wild one or US government one where my golden passport makes everything 1/2.
Had enough time to do a couple of panorama loops and a nature loop walkable from site. The nature hike was nice. I wish the commons area had little signs with their names. Most of these walks are 1-2 mile loops. ” tennis shoe” trails.
Thank you Boy Scout Troop 605 got 2 nice bundles of dry pine for $5 each.
