Friday 11/9
Found a nice USFS campground at Oregon Dune National Preserve last night. It’s really set up for OHV( Off Highway Vehicles) but there was only one other camper and it’s right on the beach so nixed my plan to go to Cape Blanco. You kids have been there. There is a old lighthouse and the campsite is up on the hill. But it’s a state park, so it will be $29.00 and this site is $12.50 with my senior discount. All i want to do is walk on the beach so this site works fine.
Windy and cold. Gloves, stocking cap and scarf. I’m tired of cold. But the sun is out so it isn’t all bad.Kevin is about 80 miles south in Gold Beach and will see him tomorrow and there looks like there is a road that follows the Rouge River over to Grant’s Pass that will get me off the coast. It’s a national forest road so who knows.
My plan is to stay out of California till i leave Death Valley. So I’m heading east on HWY 140 to Winnemucca then I’m not sure south on US95 or maybe a smaller road to Death Valley and then to Joshua Tree, then Allan&Bev’s. That’s the plan today. I’m still close to 1000 miles away. Oh well, we’ll see.
