Wheels rolling by 6:30. Coffee hot. XM chillin’. Sun just rising. Thought I might see a mountain lion this early but nothing but a few birds. The road out is #2 gravel for 10 miles but the two miles going up the side of the mountain at the end takes some concentration. A bit of exposure in places. Nothing but small suv and tents or pickup with toppers camped at Echo Park….except Bill and the schooner!
Zero traffic going out, very pleasant. Turned right at the top and went the 18 miles to “Harper’s Corner” which looks down into Echo Park. Took my time going out, had the whole thing to myself. Headed back to Vernal to get propane, hit the market once more and update the blog.
Headed for Dinosaur NM Quarry area. Going to spend the night and head south to Fruita CO. There I need to make a decision to continue south in Colorado or head east towards Arches NP and Moab.
The campground is situated on the Green River. No showers, no fresh water, no trailer dump station and $9.00! This ain’t no $9 site. I’ve stayed in $9 sites and this ain’t it.
Tomorrow Fruita CO.
