Thursday 10/17

Didn’t throw the covers off till 9:08. Just laid and dozed and looked out the windows. One chore for today; wash the schooner windows. Was out at 6:30 for a bit and the sunrise had some promise, but not enough. Got the GoPro all charged up, cleaned and ready to go. Added a couple of mounts on Bill for the GoPro. The problem with video is something has to be happening or we lose interest. Lots of nothing happening, driving down the road. And they have to be short, less than 20 seconds. The shorter the better.

Read, laid down on the bed with my hands behind my head, walked around very little. Knee is sore. Next big city, knee wrap. The solar has been quietly doing it’s job today even with the broken clouds. Cleaned the schooner windows, in and out. Sat outside after lunch with the binoculars. Saw a lot of boulders. Started looking at the Arizona map to get a better idea of how much I can see. US 89 & US89A zig the way I want to go and it takes me thru Sedona. Then down to Yuma and come up to Allan&Bev’s from the south, at the Salton Sea. But there is still a lot of things to see and trails to hike before we get to Arizona. Looked at the Garmin. It’s been on 90% of the time, so it’s close, 2020 miles as of yesterday.

Had street tacos for dinner with a Caesar Salad. Not counting the salad container, one pot dinner! Easy cleanup. A easy going day. Tomorrow, road trip mostly, I think, with optional walks/hikes out to the overlooks. The road follows the edge of the mesa surrounded by canyons. A “Island in the Sky”! Think a head of broccoli but at a much grander scale.

The star gazing has not been easy, broken clouds. The moon has been bright when it gets a chance. I have seen a few shooting stars but not enough to make any kind of wish on. I think the 22nd is to have a shower. We’ll see. Doing nothing makes you tired. Good night.
