Monday 10/28

There is snow on the ground this morning! It’s a beautiful place but there is snow on the ground! My first inclination is to head out and go south. But it is the end of October and these cold snaps are part of life. Ya,ya, I stayed and it was chilly all day. Low-mid forties with a bit of a wind. Not a breeze, a wind. I’m heading south tomorrow.

Went a total of twelve miles today to the other side of the valley. Took a side road off the main gravel. Walked the last half mile to see if I could turn around. Couldn’t, so I backtracked to a spot I had past. There is a wash that I plan on hiking this afternoon. Not to far, just stretch my knee out. Went a couple of miles round trip. Knee aches but I have to ignore it and get some exercise in.

The sun is shining but it is too cold to sit outside. Definitely need to drop down another thousand feet and get off what they call the Colorado plateau.

Tomorrow a concentrated effort to get lower. Right now 4200′.  I’ve been going sort of east to west and south to north the last couple of weeks. Time to head more south.

Need to update the blog. I have 4-5 days of pictures plus another couple of complete days. Need some good service or wi-fi. I know DST is starting soon, so I’m watching for that. Road trip tomorrow! Good night.

  1. Wow… such pretty colors! I’m glad you were finally able to add pictures to the last handful of posts.
What an awesome surprise to get a postcard from Harry Newman — at work! 🙂 Thank you.
