Nice fresh morning after stormy night. Up at 6:30am and rollin by 7:09am. Not much traffic yet. Lots of Border Patrol. Pleasant drive north for 70-80 miles to Interstate 8. Not a bad Interstate as Interstates go. Get side tracked to a petroglyph site and campground. Tried to parallel the freeway but it didn’t work out. Did some backtracking today. Filled in Yuma(12.18) $3.07 diesel. California $3.68. I didn’t think it was too terrible.
Not much before you hit Yuma. Air Force Testing/Target ranges. Seen some fast, low planes in the last few days. I plan on coming back to this Tucson/Phoenix/Yuma area and exploring a bit more. Lots and lots of big RV Parks/Resorts in Yuma area and they are filled. I have seen a lot of cacti. Nice.
Border Patrol: My rebel blood boils, no, simmers now about these immigration stations. It certainly is racial profiling. All but one, I been waved thru. BUT, the officers are just trying to make a living so I have a less surly attitude. They didn’t make the policy….except no matter if I hear them or not, I always make them repeat themselves!! My secret protest!
I’ve certainly arrived back in civilization. Traffic has increased but I feel pretty comfortable in Bill and not being in a hurry sure helps. This area of California is still big agriculture. El Centro, Brawley area. Colorado River aqueducts feed it I think.
Salton Sea. Well, there are quite a few birds. The campground is primitive. $8.00. Oh, and all the freight train noise you can handle. Six-eight rigs here. Corvino CG. I’m about 80 miles from A&B. Should be there early afternoon. Good night.
